BAE Systems Shipboard System Installation and Repair Engineering Technician in Chesapeake, Virginia

Job Description

The selected candidate will perform shipboard installations and repairs to include running, banding, and terminating cables, modifying equipment racks, and mounting electronic equipment in appropriate equipment racks. Will follow specific instructions to assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts. Will be required to safely use various hand held and power tools. Travel will be required (up to 25%).

This position is located in Chesapeake, VA . There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.

Required Skills and Education

High School diploma and at least four years of previous experience with ship board cable installation and repair

Ability to read and interpret basic wiring and schematic drawings

Ability to properly use hand and power tools

Ability to work in a shipyard environment and wear all applicable safety equipment including safety shoes and eye and hearing protection.

Ability to climb ladders

Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Previous US Navy experience

Valid OSHA maritime 10 hour training certification

Certified to build connectors IAW Navy and industry standards

Previous experience building and testing fiber optic cable

Previous repair/installation experience on board US Navy ships

Valid US tourist passport
