BAE Systems Strategic Architect in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect to help advance our existing infrastructure, and expand into new capabilities that leverage our strategic partners and third party service providers. The Enterprise Architect works with stakeholders, including business leaders, technical, functional and business process subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of an organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets. The role of the Enterprise Architect is to take this knowledge and ensure that the organization s business and Information Technology (IT) systems are aligned. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate significant technical competency. The ideal candidate can prioritize critical tasks, and support the full spectrum of a project lifecycle, from the conceptualization of a solution architecture, to the estimation, design and implementation of systems that ensure high levels of availability, performance and security.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Lead the development of the enterprise IT strategic plans

  • Combine knowledge of current state enterprise systems, long-term business and IT strategy, and industry best practices to provide architecture roadmaps

  • Create standards and guiding principles to help define and govern the future state architecture, business processes, information systems and infrastructure

  • Orchestrate an effective demand management process by employing portfolio management capabilities, prioritizing and rationalizing demand, and ensuring that architecture principles and standards are consistently applied

  • Provide technical and strategic input during the project planning phase in the form of technical architectural designs and recommendations

  • Understand company needs to define system requirements, conceptual and detailed design artifacts

  • Communicate system requirements to development and implementation teams

  • Evaluated long-term technology solutions and vendors to address business needs and advance the state of our enterprise architecture

  • Provided Architectural/Engineering leadership in designing an integration strategy with cloud-based platforms and hybrid cloud-based platforms.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

  • Minimum 15 years proven working experience in IT strategic planning, developing IT Roadmaps, IT portfolio management, project management, planning & analysis.

  • Proficiency in applying an SDLC framework and various project management methodologies

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture principles

  • PM certification a plus.
