BAE Systems IT Systems Security Engineer in California, Maryland

Job Description

The candidate will use his/her knowledge and understanding of cyber security to protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review system hardware/software design and architecture documentation and prepare materials addressing security technical issues.

  • Support RMF development of security test plans, procedures, test reports, and security assessments

  • Provide technical support for IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance, analysis, and tracking for the accredited baseline and create, update, and maintain a POA&M for the accredited system.

  • Perform vulnerability assessments to validate system compliance with DISA Security Technical Information Guidelines (STIGS)

  • Conduct vulnerability scans, static code scans and dynamic code scans to detect software vulnerabilities

  • Participate in security test events to achieve accreditation milestones

  • Work with program team to identify, remediate or justify security findings

Will also assist with other traditional systems engineering tasks such as CONOPS, requirements, and systems level testing.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in IT or Electrical / Computer Engineering and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Information Assurance

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree in IT or Electrical / Computer Engineering and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in Information Assurance

Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorization package creation, security control assessment, and IT security POA&M creation

IAT Level I certification

Active security clearance and ability to maintain

Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Computer Information Systems Security Manager (CISSM) or DISCOcertification for Infosec Security Specialist

Familiarity with security products such as HBSS and ACAS

Familiarity with configuration management tools such as LANDESK, YUM, and WSUS
