Job Description

Serve as Technology Development Manager on critical programs. Lead technical teams on R&D programs Responsibilities Include:

Develop and influence technology strategy for delivering discriminating technology and capabilities leveraging FBC core competencies in awareness, planning and trusted computing. Work closely with each Directorate within FBC to shape our technology thrusts based on Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) mission needs, science and technology priorities, and BAE Systems product roadmap needs.

This includes influencing government R&D investment decisions and BAE IR&D investment portfolios. A near term focus shall be the development of strategies to deliver on the Secretary of Defense s Third Offset autonomy needs to address peer adversary Anti-Access Area Denial (A2AD) challenges.

Facilitate leverage across a diverse portfolio of technologies. Connect the dots across BAE Systems technology capabilities to enable novel discriminating solutions to address war-fighter and BAE System Business Area product line needs. This includes providing leadership support for BAE Systems technology leverage environment and repository.

Proactively engage with BAE Systems Business Areas to facilitate transition of technology to operations and BAE Systems products. Build relationships with Business Area technical and management staff to facilitate technology transition and collaboration.

Lead technical marketing efforts and provide technical leadership for new business capture activities. This includes direct engagement with DoD and IC R&D customers to shape and create new business opportunities.

This includes formulation of technical concepts and marketing of those concepts to our customer, leading technical teams on proposal efforts and authoring proposals. This typically include 10 engineers and scientists. Ensure successful execution of technical objectives for these R&D efforts in close collaboration with Program Management. This role includes direct customer engagement to shape the R&D efforts, ensure alignment to customer objectives and to ensure customers are briefed on technical progress and status.

Serve as an independent technical reviewer of critical R&D programs. Reviews include assessment of program approach as well as assessment of plans for execution including research, design, analysis, modeling and simulation, implementation, integration, test plans, and transition plans. Provide mentoring to the technical staff in the organization to ensure we are developing our next generation of technical leaders.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  1. Bachelor s Degree with 8 year of experience

  2. Master s Degree and 6 years of professional experience

  3. Doctorate and 4 years of professional experience

  4. 8 years of technical leadership experience in Defense and Intelligence markets

  5. Degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics

  6. Experience providing technical leadership for new concept formulation

Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Electronic Warfare, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance

Mission Planning, Fusion, Low Observable Technology, Space Systems

Artificial Intelligence, Secure Computing

Eligible for US Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (active clearance strongly preferred)

Preferred Skills and Education

  1. Broad network of key stakeholders/leaders in government R&D, requirements, and acquisition communities.

  2. Experience as technical lead of DARPA, IARPA or government lab R&D programs.

Experience leading advanced prototype development programs that include software and hardware integration

and test.

  1. Strong technical expertise in systems engineering.
