BAE Systems Hardware Electrical Engineer in Austin, Texas
BAE Systems is experiencing continued growth in our Electro-optic/Infrared/RF markets and we are seeking experienced, highly-motivated Hardware Engineers to join our team. The qualified applicants will experience assignments associated with EO/IR/RF systems, precision pointing, Laser based products or other related technologies at our Austin, Texas location. At BAE Systems we design, develop and manufacture highly sophisticated EO/IR/RF and other electronic solutions that service a variety of product areas for government and commercial applications.
The selected candidate will apply their skills and knowledge to the development and support of a variety of complex defense products and technologies. The engineer, working in small teams, will acquire product knowledge and advance their technical skills while performing their assigned responsibilities on internal research and development efforts, product development on DOD projects, and sustainment efforts associated with production and fielded products.
This electrical engineering role will support and perform hands-on design, analysis, and test of digital, analog, and mixed signal prototype and production hardware and systems. As our products are exposed to harsh environments, our engineers must produce rugged designs that deliver highly reliable product performance to our military customers. The engineer will be exposed to all phases of the product lifecycle including requirements definition, concept creation, detailed implementation, test and integration, and product support.
The duties assigned to this position, while under the guidance of a lead engineer, include electrical circuit and CCA design and analysis, firmware development, technical trade studies, interface/cable/harness design, component selection, evaluation of technology insertion/upgrades, laboratory test and troubleshooting, It will be expected that the new engineer will develop proficiency in our state-of-the-art design and analysis tools, laboratory equipment and techniques, and executing in a small team environment.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering 2 years of applicable industry experience, OR
Master'sdegree in Electrical Engineering
GPA of 3.4 or higher
Solid electrical engineering fundamentals
Familiar with electrical engineering design/analysis tools
Experience with basic laboratory equipment (i.e. DVMs, Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
Leadership potential with strong written and verbal communication skills
Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
Master s degree in Electrical Engineering
Internship and/or working experience in industry
Experience with FPGA and embedded processor programming
