BAE Systems Expansion Project Lead in Austin, Texas

Job Description

BAE Systems Austin is searching for an Expansion Project Lead to oversee current facility layout improvements and design of a new Manufacturing Facility greenfield/brownfield in Austin Texas.Responsibilities include optimization of existing business/infrastructure growth within our current footprint as well as lead in the development of a new facility layout to support continued expansion projected over the next decade.This Lead position will work across the organization and multiple sites to identify best practices in layout, material flow, and manufacturing processes to progress the Factory of the Future design within BAE Systems Austin site. This position will work borderlessly in a matrixed organization to identify layout and process best practices and implement those best practices into the Austin expansion.

Responsible for developing the overall plan, factory layout, and establishing the detailed schedule and budget to assure the projects remain on schedule and budget. Regular reporting to Sr leadership on Project schedule and budget will be required, so must be comfortable in an Executive environment presenting status and fielding questions.

Very strong interpersonal and communication skills within all levels of the organization. Experience leading technical projects in a fast paced environment. Candidate will be a hands on Lead engaged in overseeing the project without direct reports, but surrounded by a great team.

Must demonstrate Continuous Improvement implementation strategies and successes. Lean Six Sigma Black belt experience with focus on Process Improvement as relates to Production Layout across the value stream from Material Supply through Customer Receipt.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Prior experience with facilities design and layout ideally in a Circuit Card Production and Electronics Final Assembly Facility. Good understanding of Lean process implementation and state of the art Manufacturing strategies to execute a lean process implementation. LSS Black Belt preferred. MBA a plus.

Preferred Skills and Education

Bachelor Science Industrial Engineering. MSIE preferred.

Demonstrable experience with Facility Layout in a Lean Manufacturing Environment.

LSS Certification from a recognized organization.

MBA and PMP a plus.

Strong communication skills across the organizational levels from Shop Floor to President imperative.
