BAE Systems Business Insights Analyst/Data Analyst in Arlington, Virginia

Job Description

Do you enjoy telling the story with data? Using reports, metrics, results from models and other analytics tools to help place the data in context and potentially impact strategic business decisions?

Are you able to derive actionable insights from data? Not just that x is down , or y is up, but rather really understanding why those variables are changing. And more importantly, what can, or should, we do about it?

We are looking for a Business Insights Analyst who has a passion for analyzing data and discovering insights to serve as the link between our business and functional groups and our advanced analytics team. This individual will work collaboratively with subject matter leads from across our Sectors to assess a current business problem; gather requirements; determine data needs (both internal and external); partner with the advanced analytics team to create and deliver products; and then help the customer put the analysis in context (e.g., pointing out trends, discovering leading indicators, etc.) The successful candidate will also monitor / review our current dashboards and analytics products and assist our customers in understanding what the data is showing. The Business Insights Analyst will be able to understand the big picture, consume and rationalize details, think critically, and reason analytically to solve problems.

This is a client facing role with a high level of business interaction and a strong customer service mindset is imperative. We are looking for someone with good change management skills and the capability to develop sound reports and presentations to articulate the case for change. This role will work in an agile team environment, with limited direct guidance.

This position is part of the Workforce Intelligence team, an enthusiastic and highly productive advanced analytics team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow and make an impact. We provide a 9/80 schedule, an end-of-year week long paid shutdown and a 6% match, with immediate vesting, on 401(k) contributions.

Irfan Kamal said, Metrics are easy; insight is hard. While we might disagree about how easy the metrics are, we can t dispute that it takes the right person with the right competencies to collaborate with the right stakeholders to come up with the right insights. Please apply if you are up for the challenge!
