BAE Systems System Administrator - Client Image Developer in Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Job Description

This individual will provide technical support from concept through development and integration to deployment of a complex software system. The successful candidatewill have demonstrable skills in developing and managing the configuration and operation of Windows client-based computer operating systems and COTS/GOTS applications; upgrading systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution; and coordination with various groups (developers, testers, and customer representatives) to perform troubleshooting on all production problems and provide resolution.

The individual will be responsible for supporting development, implementation and maintenance of a large-scale, distributed, client/server technology system. Most importantly, the individual will be responsible for the creation and deployment of the Windows-based Client software image that supports the contractor developed software application. The Client image is created using the Microsoft Deployment Tool (MDT) but is deployed in a non-domain centric environment (no domain controllers or active directory). The Client image can be deployed in various configurations, including a configuration that supports multiple virtual machines embedded within the Client image. The candidate will serve as an interface between the following groups: system engineering, software development, testing, and operational support. He/she will collaborate with customers and sub-contractors on a frequent basis, take on technologically challenging system administration and development tasks, and perform in accordance with best commercial practices and procedures.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Or at least five years of experience administering Windows systems (servers and workstations) in lieu of a degree

  • Must have at least two years of experience with Microsoft PowerShell scripting.

  • Experience upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

  • Experience supporting or leading large-scale system administration projects from design through formal test.

  • Experience with virtual machine technology such as VMWare Workstation and VMWare ESXi

  • Experience working with individuals within the following groups: software development, testing, integration, deployment, and sustainment.

  • Must be able to work effectively with others in planning and prioritizing tasking.

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work both independently and with a team in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Skills and Education

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment

  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
