BAE Systems Material Planner II in Aiken, South Carolina

Job Description

Works under general direction and guidance of the Department Manager/Supervisor and is responsible for all planning and scheduling of manufactured and/or subcontracted parts utilizing an Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system, while providing support to production, to tool manufacturing and to prototype manufacturing, as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction to Production Schedulers and Material Handlers concerning daily production flow.

  • Familiar with a variety of the organizational concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as, a complete understanding of material planning and control.

  • This position relies on experience and judgment to organize, plan and accomplish department objectives with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected to fulfill a variety of duties.

  • Reviews and analyzes inputs to include, but not limited to: Engineering Changes (EC), Engineering Orders (EO) and other requests to assist with internal and external customer requirements and needs.

  • Participates in activities required to fulfill customer expectations to include creating part masters, creating/manipulating BOM/Order bills, developing/initiating part acquisitions (make, buy, transfer, GFM) and control strategies, as well as, shipping of components.

  • Reviews/analyzes system ERP and other output reports and on-line screens to determine valid requirements, taking into consideration excess on-hand/work-in-process (WIP) material; approves/releases valid replenishment orders in a timely manner resulting in a steady/level flow to manufacturing.

  • Maintains valid part order policies, modifier, safety stock, issue codes and commodity codes as applicable; ensures applicable information is correctly assigned in Product Structure File.

  • Evaluates component lead-times compatible with the material management system; assists with resolving out-of-sync lead-times with manufacturing.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus 8 years relevant experience in a planning/coordinating function; or relevant Associate s degree plus additional 4 years experience; or relevant Bachelor s degree or equivalent plus 2 years experience.

  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, material requirements planning processes and concepts, enterprise resources planning processes and concepts, and capacity requirements planning processes & concepts.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Good planning, time management and organization skills.

  • Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with Company personnel, customers, and suppliers.

  • Ability to use computers to prepare appropriate reports and documents.

  • Proficiency in use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database development programs (such as Word, Excel and Access).

  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Prefer experience with relevant applications in a defense environment.

  • APICS CPIM certification preferred.
