BAE Systems Pipe Estimator in San Diego, California

Apply expertise and principles of Cost and Firm Fixed Price (FFP)estimating to analyze technicalrequirements of government and commercial work specifications (and references) in response to Requests For Proposals (RFP) and prepare estimates consistent with company processes.

  • Analyze work specifications to determine customer's requirements for labor, material, and subcontractors.

  • Research andretrieve all necessary historical information fromcompany databases. Compile files of cost data and produce reports as needed.

  • Prepare detailed estimates at the work item/craft and/or paragraph level with justifications for costand FFPproposals with backup documentation. Tailor standard estimating formats to meetRFP requirements.

  • Ensures all elements of cost (labor, material, andsubcontractors) are consolidated into a complete estimating package.

  • Review line inputs to ensure that estimate is responsive to the work specification and conforms to government requirements.

  • Assist in coordinating the preparation, publication, and distribution of estimates to Program Management and Contracts Administrators as requested.

  • Participate in the ongoing improvement ofestimating processes and standards.

  • Attend and support audits and fact finding sessions as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills And Education

  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpretcustomer 4-E work specifications, drawings, NAVSEA Standard Items, MSC General Technical Requirements (GTR), and able to develop Requests for Clarification (RFC).

  • Familiar with developing engineered estimates using, estimating standards, estimating tools and techniques (FIE and ABE spreadsheets), and writing auditable rationale for Basis of Estimates (BOE).

  • Familiar with contract types and how they affect the estimating process: Request for Contract Change (RCC), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), and Cost Plus (CP).

  • Intermediate/advanced skill level with MS Excel and Word.

  • Must be able tocollaborate with Contract Administrators, Material Estimators, Subcontracts Administrators, and Advanced Planning personnel in the development of estimates.

  • Must have a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the Estimating Dept. through process improvements and standard changes.
