BAE Systems Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Phoenix, Arizona

This position directs, staffs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for Mfg planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of manufacturing engineering elements associated with engineering development projects and in support of all production areas.Ensures appropriately skilled resources are available and assigned to provide comprehensive support to development project teams, production areas and development and production related bid and proposal efforts.Actively supports broad and open communication with management, production areas, project teams, and other groups. Ensures product bills of material, routings, work instructions and tooling support mixed model production line concepts of Lean Manufacturing resulting in a smooth and efficient manufacturing transition into production and problem resolution during production.Individual ensures full support of the development cycle through active participation in applicable design reviews and all Production Readiness Reviews (LCM process). Measures team and individualperformance through appropriate performance measures. Aggressively supports, emphasizes and measures process and productivity improvements throughout production areas and Design-To-Cost requirements tostaff and project teams. Ensures work is performed in accordance with applicable procedures and policies.Demonstrates an active commitment to and champions Continuous Improvement through knowledge and use of Lean principles and Six Sigma.

Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills And Education

Required education: B.S degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 12 years of relevant experience (Minimum of 5 years of experience in ME/IE related field).

  • 2-3 years of experience in a people management role

  • Advanced knowledge of Engineering principles and practices.

  • Broad knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering concepts and practices including Lean.

  • Ability to identify, define, interpret, and develop innovativesolutions to solve Mfgengineering problems involving conflicting design/contractual/policy or technical requirements.

  • Ability to build cohesive teams with both assigned and matrixed resources.

  • Working knowledge of relevant military and commercial design practices and standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization and with external customers and supplies

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively write technical and business related documentation (e.g. reports, proposals, technical papers, performance reviews, etc.)
