BAE Systems Test Capability Lead in Nashua, New Hampshire

BAE Systems is looking for a Senior Principal Test Engineer to take on the role of team lead for the development of test solutions. This test engineer will participate in and/or lead a small team in test requirement development to create clearly defined and structured Test Requirement Specifications (TRSs) and Test Design Description (TDD) documents for a given product to support factory in-process, environmental stress screening (ESS), and acceptance test procedure (ATP) testing through the development of test stands, hardware test interface equipment and test software to automate the test events. They will be responsible for integrating and verifying the released test capability that meets those requirements and certifying the test capability meets the needs of the factory. The successful candidate may possess a varying mix of hardware and software engineering skills, managing project cost and schedule constraints using EVMS techniques, as well as interpersonal skills necessary for effective team leadership.

The successful candidate for this position will:

-Possess an understanding of and be able to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of test engineering with a general knowledge of other related (mechanical, electrical and software) disciplines

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, where solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives

  • Work under only general direction. Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.

  • Provide technical direction to a small team of test development engineers

  • Have frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts, representing the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects

  • Prior experience in team leadership, or a experience history indicating future success in managing a development team

  • Understanding the need for and be an advocate of disciplined engineering approaches (requirements, processes, and practices)

  • Experience with the application of industry standards related to testing

  • Working knowledge of test solution software development (drivers, utilities, executives, and test software

  • Working knowledge of test solution hardware development (test adapters, cables, and interface modules)

  • Skilled in test solution development, integration, verification, and validation/certification

  • Have a clear understanding of test architectures and software abstractions

  • Be capable of collaboration, conformance, and compromise on departmental special projects and initiatives

  • Have a goal-driven, closure-oriented mind set.

  • Current US Govt Secret Clearance

  • Competency with design and performance testing of RF circuits/assemblies, digital, optical, or analog circuitry;

  • Familiarity with defense contractors or similar corporate environment;

  • Management skills for setting up and executing test development programs;

  • Familiarity with principles of cost account management and reporting

  • Familiarity with earned-value program tracking and reporting

Preferred Education:

BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering (BSECE)

BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
