BAE Systems Computing Platforms Architect Engineer in Huntington Bay, New York
BAE Systems' Mission Computing product line has an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified systems/electrical engineer to lead efforts to architect, specify, assess, design, test, integrate, and qualify military grade enterprise class and embedded computing platforms for present and future products.
The candidate should possess commanding subject matter expertise in the areas of computer architecture and networking technology, design, and manufacturing. Will be responsible in a technical leadership role architecting and specifying complex new products, as well as for evolutionary changes to existing products. Will develop specifications for subcontractors. Will lead technical interactions with subcontractors, inform their development activities, and assess resultant computer boxes, CCA/PWB, component, I/O, and infrastructure for: requirements compliance; system, module, and schematic design completeness, correctness, quality, and compatibility; and ensuring the implementation's performance. Will visit vendor facilities to assess product development progress, compliance and quality, as well as manufacturing process influences upon such, and to recommend improvements for both. Is expected to identify and lead internal research and development efforts. Will be responsible for the completeness, integrity, and quality of the evolving product configuration baseline.
Should be knowledgeable about currently relevant and future computing technology trends, and conduct surveys of market offerings and perform trade studies in order to inform and guide product line technology and product roadmaps. Should develop and maintain contact with a network of regional sales representatives for relevant technologies and products. Should seek to establish synergies between this product line and others throughout the broader enterprise.
The candidate should have skills with military and COTS, enterprise and embedded, computing standards and technologies based upon VITA and PICMG form factors, including component level technologies for processors, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet, and OS compatibilities for Linux/Windows, general digital, analog circuits and amplifiers.
Minimum Education And Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills And Education
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, and minimum of 8 years related work or equivalent experience. The ability to review, recommend improvements, and approve digital and analog circuitry schematics is required. Architecting systems of CCA, with allocated functional requirements and I/O is required. Should have solid understanding and practice of product life cycle engineering.Requires verification and validation skills necessary for product qualification, including functional, EMI/EMC, and environmental qualification. Requires strong communication and persuasion skills.
