BAE Systems Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer / Hardware Lead in Hudson, New Hampshire
Located in Hudson, NH. This individual will work as a Principle Mechanical Hardware Engineer in the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions engineering team supporting development and production of man-portable thermal imaging and missile seeker products.
Interested candidates must demonstrate proficiency with technical drawings interpretations, system integration, test and evaluation methodologies, and the ability to communicate moderate to complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. The candidate will be expected to apply extensive mechanical engineering knowledge and experience with emphasis of expertise in the design of munition hardware for survivability in high G and shock environment. Candidate will be required to be adept in requirements definition and test engineering principles, as well as have the ability to develop system level test plans and procedures, develop and analyze system/subsystem designs, and evaluate technical reports. Typical test engineering tasks include the following:
oDeveloping requirements, test plans and evaluation techniques for new emerging test programs,
oDeveloping and reviewing drawing and other technical programmatic documentation
oExecuting development of data collection and analysis strategies and associated tools,
oProviding on-site test support during test program execution,
oTest analyses and test analysis report creation,
oTracking, resolving a and defining corrective action problems found during testing and production.
oParticipating in research and investigations as well as special studies
Specifically, this position will require extensive subject matter expertise knowledge in designing for survivability in high G and shock conditions. The candidate is expected to analyze and provide quantitative critical assessments with design recommendations compliant to the dynamic environmental requirements of new concepts or existing designs.
The candidate is required to work independently, and provide insight to system level problems and to propose solutions. The selected individual must possess the ability to present technical problems and status to program, have a positive attitude and be able to effectively multitask in a fast paced work environment.
Strong Mechanical Aptitude
Expertise in hardware design and analyses for high G and shock environments.
Ability to lead and organize mechanical engineering efforts.
Ability to interface and work cooperatively with external customers and to attain viable designs
Ability to support design and development of hardware to ensure requirements compliance.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform tolerance assessments
Good communication and organizational skills
8 years BS or 6 years MS or 3 years PhD.
Finite element modeling skills - thermal and structural, transient shock.
