BAE Systems Network Security Specialist in Arlington, Virginia
The selectedcandidate will provide onsite support to the United States ComputerEmergency Readiness program (US-CERT) responsible for analyzing andreducing cyber threats and vulnerabilities,disseminating cyber threat warning information, and coordinatingincident response activities. US CERT provides advanced network anddigital media analysis expertise and defends against malicious activity targetingnetworks within the United States and abroad.
Theresponsibilities of the selected Network Security Specialist candidate mayinclude the following: Exam and combat malicious software,suspicious network activities, and non-authorized presence in the networkto analyze the nature of the threat, and secure and monitor firewall configurations.The Network Security Specialist needs to understand the subject'sattackcapabilities, propagation characteristics, and define signatures for detectingmalware presence; Conduct risk assessment and provide recommendationsfor enhanced security architecture and infrastructure for a large
enterprise security operation; Manage enterprisesecurityappliances (IDS/IPS) devices and develop custom signature rules; Developand enhance system security documentation including rules of behavior, continuityof operations (COOP) and disaster recovery (DR), interconnection agreements,and incident response plans in accordance with customer plans and guidelines;Conduct and evaluate COOP and DR exercises and training; Develop andmanage required system compliance reports and information requests;Participate in system Certification and Accreditation and Federal
Information Security Management Act processes at the Department/Federallevel.
Candidate preference to shift will beconsidered.Shifts are defined as follows:
Shift1: Mon - Fri, 6:00AM - 2:30PM
Shift 2: Mon - Fri, 2:00PM - 10:30PM
Shift 3: Mon - Fri, 10:00PM - 6:30AM
Shift 4: Sat and Sun, 6:00AM - 6:30PM,plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts
Shift 5: Sat 6:00PM - Sun 6:30AM and Sun6:00 PM - Mon 6:30 AM, plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts
Minimum Education And Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills And Education
Bachelor's Degree required forpositions above entry level.
Demonstrated Experience inNetwork Administration and Network Security
Hardware experience with Routers, switches,firewalls, intrusion detection systems
Softwareexperience with Network managementsoftware, firewall rule management, anti-virus software .
Excellentwritten and oral communicationskills.
Must be able to work independently and with a group Possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
